On the occasion of the election of President Obama, The Girl’s high school, under the leadership of a creative and caring educator, produced this video. Not in America. In Toronto.
A special place and a special time. A reason to hope.

Refuge of the Lost Generation. Where Ulysses was first published. Still a refuge for writers in Paris. H purchased Christmas gifts and an exquisite edition of poems by Pablo Neruda – Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair.
Below a picture of H leaving the Antiquarian section of the store. In the window a first edition of Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast. 160 Euros.
In the afternoon, on the way back from the Tower, we walked to Notre Dame. The line up to get in stretched around the Cathedral.
My favourite picture of the day. Nuns outside Notre-Dame. Please note the end of the line… Taking photographs of the Cathedral with a telephoto lens.

Hi everyone, Im H or the girl. I am also known as my mothers sidekick. Well this may not be a post about the house but is just to say that I thank everyone who comes on to the blog because it makes my mom so happy to see that people are interested in our new house. I love her to death and I think she is an amazing person and I hope you think so too.

Well. There were five Angels at the wee house today.
Including a new Angel – Dave.
Meet Dave.
They were digging. Kinda sorta using a motorized wheelbarrow. Which is, in proper conditions, designed to dig AND move earth. Unfortunately it would appear that a River may run under the house. So the earth is somewhat like the consistency you find at the beach when you dig down to the water line. So the machine would not dig. It does however move the dirt out of the basement – which is something I guess. But moving that earth. Yikes.
Carmen driving “motorized wheelbarrow”.
Dave moving dirt. The piles are GROWING.
Angels in full flight..

Victor and Joe. Why is Victor laughting? Well it’s like this. I raised the camera. Joe was not going to be captured AGAIN with a coffee cup in hand:)

Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come.
Chinese Proverb
Next year all the birthdays will be CELEBRATED in the wee house.

Remember yesterday? Remember the dining room was still red? Well it’s gone. Completely gone.
Because the Angels came back and worked all morning.
So it now looks like this:

At the risk of reducing myself to a puddle…
Last year we sailed the emerald waters of Ha Long Bay.
Almost no days left. Susan’s calendar purchased on last foray in the Old Quarter.
Happy New Year one and all.

Just when we thought we were about to ring out the year without moving forward…
Just when I had come to terms with nothing really changing until 2009…
Along came Walter and Carmen and Victor.
Angels on Queens Drive.
Who pulled and ripped and sorted and lifted floor and sawed rads in half and carried rads and other LARGE and HEAVY objects out of the house. Down came old walls, up came old floors. Doors sorted. Trim piled.
Left to right: Carmen, Victor and Walter.
Goodbye pink tub. Look closely and there is a peek of a rad hiding under the tub.
Living room fireplace wall with shelving half gone.
Found. An extra foot or so under one of the dining room windows. Which makes it perfect for a window bench.
